I recently had duct cleaning performed by your mechanic Andre and his apprentice Duane. They were punctual, very professional, very knowledgeable, cleaned up after themselves, and even offered some good feedback on different things I should do in my home to improve my family's comfort. You should be very proud to have them as employees.

At Sobieski Services our goal is to make your home a healthy, safe and comfortable place for your family to enjoy!

Improving Comfort

With the proper level of humidity in your home, you will feel more comfortable and breathe easier. You can eliminate that dry eye, nose and throat feeling you have when you wake up in the morning. Humidity also reduces or eliminates static electricity. It protects the investment in your home and your furniture because proper humidity prevents wood from cracking and peeling.

Here are the various ways you can regulate your home's humidity:

Steam Humidifiers

Most humidifiers work only when the heating system is actively running. The Honeywell Whole-House Steam Power Humidifier works effectively with your heating system but lets you control humidity independently, so you can add needed moisture without turning up the heat. It features a thermal switch that turns on the system fan as needed. You'll be able to set the humidity where you like it and enjoy consistent, reliable comfort. Even more, you'll enjoy a clean, efficient system. The Honeywell Steam Humidification features two-stage water treatment that eliminates scale build-up to ensure clean, reliable performance. It is the perfect choice for homes requiring increased protection for wood flooring, furnishings and decor.

Ductwork Modifications

Improperly sized or designed ductwork is the most common reason why people are not comfortable in their own homes. Imagine your furnace is like a set of lungs. Running a race while breathing through a cocktail straw is similar to how your furnace reacts when forced to operate through improperly sized ductwork.

By custom fabricating sheet metal ductwork, we can quickly and efficiently build any necessary parts to modify and enhance the performance of your system. Even if your entire duct system needs replacement, we can design and fabricate a new system in less than one day.

Residential Zoning Systems

Imagine if every time you turned on a light switch, every electrical device in your home came on or if every time you went to wash your hands every faucet, shower, tub and toilet opened up. That would be crazy! So why is it that when you need heating in one room the entire house heats up? Now you can zone your heating and cooling so that you don't have to heat or cool your entire home when you don't need to. By dividing your home's ductwork into specific zones that can be controlled independently, our home zoning system is specially designed to allow your entire family to be comfortable, regardless of where they are in your home. Even better yet, you can finally control that hard-to-heat-and-cool addition for which you paid a fortune.

Staying Healthier

Upgrade Your Air Filter

During the energy crisis of the early 1970s, highly insulated "tight" homes became popular because of their potential to reduce energy costs. Within a few years, however, complaints started to arise due to health and excessive moisture issues caused by indoor pollution. In the late 1980s and early '90s, indoor air quality became an issue of national prominence and even today, those so-called "energy-efficient" homes can sometimes retain more humidity and airborne pollutants, such as mold, germs, bacteria and viruses.

This greater activity and concentration of these airborne contaminants equates to more allergic reactions and sickness within families for extended periods of time. That's why we recommend the PureAir™ Air Purification System by Lennox.

This unique system filters your home's air through a purifying system that includes three components: a pleated media filter to remove pollen, dust and bacteria; UV lights to destroy bacteria and viruses; and a metal mesh plate specially designed to remove odors and chemicals, while destroying organic compounds. Lennox's Pure-Air system removes over 95% of particles ranging in size (down to 0.3 microns), removes over 90% of bioaerosols (ranging in size down to 0.1 micron), and destroys approximately 50% of household odors and chemical vapors within 24 hours.

Duct Cleaning - A Two Step Solution

First - Clean and Decontaminate the HVAC system
The first step of our remediation program is to remove the source of the contaminants inside your air flow and duct system. A dirty HVAC system is an ideal breeding ground for molds, fungi and other microbial pests that use the dirt and dust as a food source. A thorough "source removal" cleaning of the ductwork and other critical HVAC components will help eliminate the food sources for the bad microbial growth that may be living in your duct work. Sobieski Services uses high performance duct cleaning systems, like The RotoBrush aiR+ ®, the number one choice for HVAC professionals. This state-of-the-art technology will scrub your ductwork clean and vacuum out the dust, dirt and contaminants that could be seriously affecting the efficiency of your system and your family's health!

Second - Protect against recontamination of the indoor environment
Sobieski Services has the solutions that become an integral part of your central duct system to help keep your entire home free of microbial pests and dust. Unlike portable in-room air purifiers sold in gimmick stores, our solutions treat contaminants at the source. These items include electronic and pleated air cleaners, humidifiers, germicidal ultraviolet light and outdoor fresh air recovery ventilators. One of our IAQ Specialists can help you decide the right systems for your home and budget.

Highlighting Safety

Low-Level Carbon Monoxide Monitors

Sobieski Services can quickly install a National Safety Institute Model 3000 Carbon Monoxide Monitor that will provide protection for everyone, especially infants, children, the elderly, and highly sensitive or ill people. Other detectors barely provide minimal protection for healthy adults.

The NSI Model 3000 lets you know there's a problem before reaching dangerous, even deadly CO levels, long before the other detectors even begin to work by employing the same electrochemical sensor technology found in professional CO analyzers.

A low-level monitor senses CO levels as low as 5 ppm (parts per million). Long term exposure to low-level CO above 15 ppm can cause illness and even permanent disabilities. Most store-bought detectors don't alarm until unsafe levels of 70 ppm or higher are present at the unit for 3-1/2 hours! By then it may be too late. Plug-in models don't always allow for proper placement and don't work during power outages. The NSI 3000 is battery powered for 24/7 protection.

Easy-to-See Thermostats

"Easy-to-see" thermostats are the best new ideas in thermostats, yet few people know about them! They work the same as a standard thermostat and are really easy to use. An easy-to-see thermostat has very large raised numbers that people with impaired vision can easily read. An audible click sounds at each degree mark as you adjust the temperature by turning the dial. An optional large clear dial cover is also available to assist those who are hindered with arthritis.

Ceiling Saver Kit

More than just cooling the air, the main function of an air conditioner is to dehumidify the air to create a comfortable environment. The water released from the dehumidified air is then drained away. If your air conditioning system is located in your attic, this can pose serious problems; if your drain ever clogs, the condensation will overflow from your air conditioner onto your ceiling. Repairing or replacing your ceiling could cost hundreds or possibly even thousands of dollars.

The ceiling saver kit catches any potential leaks in a custom fabricated pan with a separate drain line. If the back-up drain gets clogged, we've got it covered: We also install a safety switch that will automatically turn your air conditioner off, eliminating the possibility for any more condensation to occur. At this point, you will realize that your air conditioning system is not working and call us for service to correct the problem before a drop of water leaks onto your ceiling.
